Genesis 1 records God’s orderly work of creation in six days. He spoke the universe into existence—light, sky, land, seas, vegetation, sun, moon, stars, fish, birds, animals, and finally mankind in His own image. Each step built toward the climax of creating humans, male and female, entrusted with dominion over the earth and commanded to be fruitful and multiply.
Genesis 2 retells the creation with special attention to humanity. God formed Adam from the dust, placed him in Eden to work and keep it, and created Eve from his side as a suitable helpmeet. Together they reflect God’s design for relationship, responsibility and stewardship, showing that humanity is the crown of God’s creative work.
