Historical Summary

2 Kings 1–8 highlights Elisha’s ministry after Elijah, set during a time of idolatry and unstable kings. His miracles showed God’s power and mercy: multiplying a widow’s oil, raising the Shunammite’s son, healing Naaman’s leprosy, and feeding a hundred men with a small portion. These signs confirmed that the Lord alone sustained Israel.

Elisha’s works also reached the national stage. He exposed the plans of the Syrian army, blinded enemies, and foretold famine and deliverance in Samaria. Through these acts, God protected His people and reminded them of His presence. Elisha stands out as a prophet of both power and compassion, proving that God was still at work in Israel despite their rebellion.
