UFOs, UAPs, and Aliens: A Biblical Guide to Extraterrestrials
In November 2004, Navy pilot David Fravor encountered what became one of the most famous modern UFO sightings: the “Tic Tac” object. It had no visible wings, no obvious propulsion, and moved in ways that defied ordinary explanation. Years later, the U.S. government released Navy videos of unidentified aerial phenomena, and public curiosity surged again. Were these advanced technologies, atmospheric anomalies, foreign surveillance, or something beyond this world? The answer remains unclear. But “unidentified” does not mean “alien.” It simply means unidentified.
Talk of UFOs is only going to increase. Recent government interest in releasing files related to aliens, extraterrestrial life, UAPs, and UFOs has stirred fresh public curiosity. Are we alone? What does the government know? Are these sightings natural, technological, extraterrestrial, or spiritual?
The Bible does not use the modern language of UFOs, UAPs, or extraterrestrials. It does, however, speak clearly about creation, heaven, earth, visible and invisible beings, angels, devils, principalities, powers, signs, wonders, and lying spirits.
A Christian should begin here: “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible… all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” (Colossians 1:16-17, KJV)
If there are beings beyond our present understanding, they are not outside God’s authority. If there are strange lights in the sky, secret technologies, angelic appearances, demonic deceptions, or government secrets, none of them sit above Jesus Christ.
Believers do not begin with Hollywood, the Pentagon, Area 51, ancient astronaut theories, or social media videos. We begin with Jesus Christ.
The Bible Already Reveals Celestial Beings
Angels appear throughout Scripture. Cherubims appear in connection with the garden of Eden, the mercy seat, and the glory of God. Seraphims appear in Isaiah 6, crying, “Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.” (Isaiah 6:3)
But biblical angels appear according to the will and purpose of God. Gabriel gave understanding to Daniel. Angels warned Lot and delivered him from judgment. An angel announced the birth of Christ. Angels ministered to the Lord Jesus. Faithful angels serve God’s message, God’s judgment, God’s people, and God’s glory.
They do not appear to create headlines, confusion, or spiritual curiosity for its own sake. That matters. The modern alien narrative is often centered on mystery, fear, hidden knowledge, secret power, human advancement, and the idea that mankind may be guided by superior beings. That is a very different spirit.
Try Every Spirit
The Bible gives the believer a test: “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God...” (1 John 4:1)
Then Scripture gives the standard: “Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God.” (1 John 4:2-3)
That is one of the simplest biblical filters for the alien question: What does the message do with Jesus Christ?
If the alien story says mankind was seeded by extraterrestrials, it attacks the Creator. If it says man’s hope is in advanced beings from the stars, it offers a false saviour. If it says sin is only ignorance, limitation, or low consciousness, it denies the fall. If it says mankind’s future is ascension through science, evolution, or contact with higher intelligences, it replaces redemption with deception. If it refuses to confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, it is not of God.
“Unidentified” Does Not Mean “Extraterrestrial”
Government reports and public releases do not automatically prove alien life. They may only prove that some events are unexplained, poorly explained, or not publicly explained.
Area 51 has become almost mythological in American culture because secrecy fuels imagination. People speculate about crashed saucers, alien bodies, reverse-engineered technology, and hidden contact. But secrecy does not prove aliens.
A mystery is not doctrine. A government file is not revelation. A testimony may be sincere and still be incomplete.
The Alien Storyline and the Last Days
The timing of this conversation is intriguing. Jesus said of the last days: “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders...”
(Matthew 24:24) Paul also warned of “all power and signs and lying wonders.” (2 Thessalonians 2:9)
The last days are marked by deception. That deception may involve religion, politics, science falsely so called, technology, fear, and signs and wonders in the heavens.
Many people are being conditioned to believe that superior beings may descend from above, explain our origins, correct our religions, unite the world, and guide mankind into a new age. That is spiritually dangerous.
Like others, I believe it is possible that the devil will use the alien message as one explanation for the rapture of the church. When the Lord catches away His saints, the world will need a story. An alien abduction theory would fit perfectly into a world already conditioned to believe in higher beings and interdimensional visitors.
The Bible says God will send “strong delusion” upon those who “received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11) If people reject the truth now, they may be prepared to believe a lie later.
If Aliens Are Real, They Are Still Under Christ
Even if some form of extraterrestrial creature exists, nothing can exist outside the creative authority of Jesus Christ. Colossians 1:16-17 includes the visible and invisible, heaven and earth, thrones, dominions, principalities, and powers.
If a being comes with a message that exalts Jesus Christ, agrees with Scripture, and serves the purposes of God, it would fit the pattern of a holy messenger. But if a being denies Jesus Christ, rewrites creation, removes sin, mocks judgment, or offers another gospel, the Christian already knows how to judge it.
Paul wrote: “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8)
The Hope of Mankind Is Not in the Stars
The hope of mankind is the Lord Jesus Christ. He came in the flesh, died for our sins, was buried, rose again, and is coming again. The heavens declare the glory of God, but they do not replace the gospel of God.
UFOs may remain unexplained. Governments may release more files. Testimonies may become more dramatic. Evidence may become more compelling. But the believer does not need to be shaken.
There is one true King and one righteous kingdom (Zechariah 14:9). Whatever is in the sky, whatever is hidden in government archives, and whatever strange thing may appear in the last days, Jesus Christ is Lord over it all.
Look to the Creator. Look to the Scripture. Look to the Lord Jesus Christ.
