The Power of Gospel Tracts: Why Christians Should Share Them (Free Downloads Available)

An acquaintance of mine has one of the most captivating salvation stories I’ve ever heard. With a miserable, hopeless outlook on life in his 20s, he decided to end it all. He drove his truck to Walmart on a hot summer day to buy bullets for his gun. When he returned to his truck, he found a gospel tract sitting on his front seat. He read it, and the message changed his life. He found new life in Christ and has now served as a missionary to Australia for decades.

I’ve heard tell of a factory worker who kept finding gospel tracts in the bathroom stall at work. He read them, and one day accepted Christ. His coworkers noticed an obvious change in his life. He began preaching to them, and one in particular felt God’s conviction so deeply that he took his family to church that very night (a Wednesday night) and he and his son both walked the aisle to accept Christ. Both eventually became preachers. Gospel tracts got this ball rolling!

A friend of mine used to tell me about times she felt God leading her to particular people and handing them a gospel tract, encouraging them to read it and accept Christ. One evening we were eating together at a fast-food restaurant, and she was recounting her latest tract-giving stories. As she spoke, it occurred to me that God brought specific people across her path because He knew she would share Christ with them. Mid-thought, a man walked into the restaurant, came straight to our table, and asked if we knew where the Second Go-Round was — a local bar. My friend replied, “I don’t know, but here, I have something for you to read. It talks about how you can know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.”

Giving out tracts in any fashion is a simple and powerful form of evangelism that any believer can do. You don’t have to be a gifted evangelist, just a willing tract distributor. A tract found quietly, like in a bathroom stall, allows the reader to consider the message privately and personally. God uses moments like this to draw people to Jesus Christ. While today is still the day of salvation (2 Cor. 6:2), it’s a good day to spread the gospel. I keep a pouch filled with gospel tracts in my purse and leave one in any public bathroom stall I use. (If no one is around, I leave them in other stalls too!) We never know how God will use the tracts we distribute, but if He intends to call someone, He will guide them to the right place.

I’ve written and produced two printer-ready tracts that are available as free downloads on this page. One is designed specifically to leave in bathroom stalls. Printing them is as simple as emailing the PDF file to a printer and asking for a quote. I usually order 200 at a time.

If you’d like to print one and include your name or your church’s contact information at the bottom, visit our contact page and send us the details you want included. We can customize the tract and email you a new PDF ready to send to the printer.

If God can use a small piece of paper to change a life, it’s worth leaving one wherever you go, regularly making a difference for the Kingdom of God.
